Ben Tilley, the right-hand man of billionaire James Packer, buys in One Barangaroo

Ben Tilley, the right-hand man of billionaire James Packer, has emerged as the latest apartment buyer in One Barangaroo.

Tilley, who took over from his father Barry as Kerry Packer’s good-luck charm accompanying the moguls in travels across the world, has secured an $8.9 million, 170sqm apartment on the 51st floor.

Like Packer, who has yet to secure his $60 million apartment, Tilley has been gone from Sydney for several years now, spending much of his time on IJE, the $200 million giga-yacht, which recently sailed the Aegean from Santorini to Mykonos.

Apparently there was a near calamity earlier this month when IJE’s tender veered too close to a beach.

Meanwhile, other Barangaroo settlements have seen Gehan Sidaros, wife of bigtime McDonald’s hamburger owner, Hani, spend $17,125,000 on the 72nd floor. Businessman Robert Tieck spent $11.1 million on the 70th floor. And hoteliers Sandy and Angelo Elliott paid $24.2 million for 414sqm on the 54th floor having sold their six-bedroom home with a 14-car garage in Centennial Park for $14 million
