Who Is David Goggins?

David Goggins is an American ultramarathon runner, ultra-distance cyclist, triathlete, public speaker, and author. On 17 February 1975, he was born in Buffalo, New York, U.S., to Jackie and Trunnis Goggins, and he grew up with his brother, Trunnis Junior. Initially, David applied to join the United States Air force Pararescue, but though he got accepted, he failed in ASVAB test. Later, he was diagnosed with sickle cell trait and removed from the training. Then he completed the United States Air Force Tactical Air Control Party training and worked as a TACP from 1994 to 1999; then, he left the U.S. Air Force. In 2001, he succeeded in BUD/S training after failing three times.

After a great struggle, he was assigned to SEAL Team 5, where in his 20-year military career, he served in Iraq and Afghanistan. In 2004, he graduated from Army Ranger School and received the 'Top Enlisted Man' award. David began long-distance running for his friends who died in Afghanistan in a helicopter crash in 2005 during Operation Red Wings. He began to run to raise money for the Special Operations Warrior Foundation, which gives scholarships, and grants to the children of fallen special operation soldiers. By competing in Badwater Ultramarathon three times, he raised more than $2 million for the Special Operations Warrior Foundation.

Before serving in the United States, Air Force David Goggins weighed around 15 kilos, nearly 300 pounds. He was 6 feet and 1 inch, but he had excessive and unhealthy eating habits. According to the Navy recruiter, for his height, he should weigh around 191 pounds which is 87 kg. At 23, David was determined to join Navy Seals; to do so, he lost 50 kgs in two months.
