Driver dead following multi vehicle crash in Whitsundays

A man has died following a horror two car collision off Queensland’s east coast.

The 67-year-old Dingo Beach man was driving at Strathdickie near Airlie Beach on Sunday night, when his car collided with another car at the intersection of Strathdickie Road and Staniland Drive before 6.30pm.

The man, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, died at the scene.

The driver of the other vehicle, a 43-year-old Riordanvale woman, was taken to Townsville University Hospital for treatment.

Also the sole occupant of her car, the woman was flown to hospital in a stable condition with suspected spinal injuries.

The circumstances that led to the crash are still being investigated while police have urged anyone with information or who witnessed the incident to contact Crime Stoppers.
