These rumors, however, faded following the emergence of actor Hugh Skinner who made a name for himself in the theater before transferring his talent to the big screen. Biography of Hugh Skinner
Hugh Skinner, whose full birth name is HughWilliam Skinner was born on January 6, 1985 in London, England. Around the age of four, the young boy moved to Perth, Australia for a year before returning to his home country later.
Skinner grew up in the cities of London and Tunbridge Wells and was educated at Eastbourne College between 1998 and 2003. He then enrolled at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA), where he graduated in 2006.
Acting career
After completing his studies, Hugh Skinner started his acting career in 2007. He started his career as a comedian. He played the role of Kit in Français sans tears at the English Touring Theatre, Jose in Senora Carrar’s Rifles at Jeune Vic and Viggo in L’enchantement at the national theatre. The following year he moved to television and played the supporting role of Felix in the BBC series – 2008 adaptation of Tess d’Urbervilles.
In 2009, Skinner could only land roles in theater productions. His luck turned around in 2010 as he appeared in another BBC series, the miniseries Any Human Heart where he played the role of Lionel. In 2012, he made his film debut as one of the student revolutionaries named Joly in Les Misérables
Hugh Skinner caught the world’s attention in 2013 when it was announced that he would play an airtight homosexual named Luis Carruthers in American Psycho at the Almeida Theater. During the role, he was cast as the character Will Humphries in the comedy W1A (2014-2017). An abundance of roles in both theater and television followed for Skinner in 2014. They include the roles of Dr Barnaby Ford in the BBC series Our Zoo (2014), that of Camille in Helen Edmundson’s adaptation of Therese Raquin at the Royal Bath Theater, and Yephidikhov in Le verger de cerisier au jeune vic.
In 2016, Skinner appeared in the comedy series The Windsors and Flea Bag. The following year, he appeared in the series Prostitutes (2017) and the films Star Wars: The Last Jedi (2017), and Hampstead (2017) alongside Diane Keaton.
Hugh Skinner recently appeared in Maman Mia! Here We Go Again (2018) and in the final episode of Matthew Weiner’s anthology series The Romanoffs (2018). It was also announced that he will be joining the cast of the Sky period drama, Little Birds (2020).
Who is Hugh Skinner’s girlfriend?
Hugh Skinner is an openly gay man and therefore does not have a girlfriend. That didn’t stop him from playing heterosexual characters, however, which he plays in the British comedy-drama series, Fleabag. In the show, his girlfriend is the protagonist and the main character played by actress Phoebe Waller-Bridge.
The on-screen relationship between the two has prompted many fans to speculate that it could be a hidden camera element.
