Janalle Monáe Robinson is an American singer, producer and actress, born in Kansas City, Kansas, on December 1, 1985. Since she was a child, Janalle was interested in music, so in her teens she moved to New York to study art. drama and music at the Academy of Musicals and Dramatics, with the aim of musicalizing Broadway plays. However, during her stay at the academy, the girl fell in love with pop music, which she considered closer to her aspirations and style.
Some time later, Janalle would move to Atlanta, where she would meet Big Boi, a member of the group Outkast, who recommended her to producer and singer Sean Combs, owner of the Bad Boy Records label, with whom she would sign a contract in 2006. Considered among several genres Musicals, the artist’s music is closer to rhythm and blues, with influences on artists such as Michael Jackson, David Bowie, Erykah Badu and James Brown.
In her young career, Janalle has three albums: Metropolis: Suite I (2007), The ArchAndroid (2010) and The Electric Lady (2013). Her music has accompanied numerous films and series. Janalle has also started a career as an actress, appearing in films such as Moonlight (2016), Hidden Talents (2016) and The Woman of Marwen (2018).
