Police investigating after man shot in Granville in Sydney‘s west

A man has died after being shot in a shocking daylight attack in Sydney’s west.

Emergency services were called to were called to Factory St in Granville about 4.30pm on Sunday following reports of a shooting.

On arrival, officers from Cumberland Police Area Command found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to his shoulder.

Despite the efforts of paramedics, the man died at the scene.

The Daily Telegraph has identified the man as 44-year-old Xiao Zhao. Police reportedly believe he had links to organised crime.

A crime scene has been established and investigations underway into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

According to The Telegraph, helicopters flew overhead as dozens of police cars, including the Public Order and Riot Squad, rushed to the scene. Witnesses were stopped on a nearby street and asked for information.

The shooting comes after a spate of high-profile attacks in Sydney’s west,including 24-year-old Marvin Oraiha who was killed in May.

As inquiries continue, police are urging any witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
