On January 3, 1990, Rich Porter was assassinated. The next day, his body was found near Orchard Beach in the Bronx. He'd been shot in the head and chest multiple times. Police discovered $2,239 cash in his pocket. Alpo Martinez, a friend and former drug dealer, was accused with his murder and found guilty.

His 12-year-old brother, Donnell Porter, was abducted on his way to school in Harlem on December 5, 1989, and had his finger amputated in order to extract $500,000 in ransom money from Rich. He was eventually killed, and his body was discovered on January 28, 1990, less than a month after Rich's murder, a mile distant from where Rich's body was discovered. Their maternal uncle and his gang, known as the Preachers Crew, kidnapped and murdered his brother Donnell.

Story Of Paid In Full

The film is based on a true storey about a young man who rises to the top of Harlem's cocaine business. Wood Harris plays Ace, the protagonist, who is based on real-life hustler Azie Faison. Ace is caught in a dead end job working in a dry cleaner's shop at the start of the film. Calvin, his sister's lover, is a big-time drug dealer who frequently tries to get Ace to join the drug trade with promises of quick money and glory. Ace fights these urges, reminding Calvin that his flamboyant manner and daring method of dealing will land him in jail. Ace takes up his place on the streets following a chance encounter with Lulu, a Columbian drug dealer, when Calvin is arrested. He builds a massive drug empire in Harlem with the help of his pal Mitch, counterpart of real-life hustler Rich Porter - played by Mekhi Phifer and their partner and enforcer Rico, counterpart of real-life hustler Alberto Martinez, otherwise known as "Alpo" - played by Cam'ron. Ace, unlike most hustlers, is wary of drawing too much attention to himself and prefers to operate in the shadows.
